NMU Student Protest Today!
Today the Nelson Mandela University campuses were closed due to a strike that started as early as 5 am this morning.
In my personal opinion, I hate it when people have to go this far to take action against something, but for today for every BTech Applied design and 3rd Year BAS student, it was a blessing in disguise. We had a large hand in today for a new Theatre Design in Baakens Valley Port Elizabeth. The deadline got postponed until further notice and for this, I am grateful for this strike.
Last night we were all working towards our hand in that was to be today. After receiving the news about the strike, a drove home as soon as possible and fetched my laptop so that I can quickly install Revit 2018 with the idea that ill is able to work at home as soon as things get ugly. After an all-nighter and a big struggle with my laptop that's so slow, I drove back to NMU. Approaching NMU I saw the police cars blocking all the entrances to North and South Campus, I parked on the lawn in front of the North Campus and started out marching with my drawings and a flask of coffee to the Architecture Department.

Its extremely funny how fast people can think of a joke as soon as something like this happens. Just to give a bit of background, the whole strike day was lead by SASCO South African Student Congress.
My Friend Wim Retief can realy be sharp with these tipe of things. (You can check out his blog @ www.wimretief.com) When I got to the labs I found this on the door:
I hope that the problems discussed in the topics of the strike will get sorted out as soon as possible You can go and read up on this a bit more on the following link.
